Como se vai parar no inferno?
As intuições de Ireneu e Agostinho e seu surpreendente resultado

Este artigo tem como objetivo, primeiramente, investigar pistas que Ireneu de Lyon e Agostinho de Hipona forneceram a respeito de como se atinge a condição de eterna perdição. Em um segundo momento, e seguindo o rumo daquelas intuições, o artigo visa apresentar ideias que enriqueçam a reflexão acerca do tema do inferno. Com o pressuposto epistemológico da teologia, que é o da adesão a uma confissão religiosa, o método emprega a pesquisa bibliográfica acrescida de investigação. As conclusões principais são: ninguém vai parar no inferno sem querer estar lá; o ímpio – narcisista extremado – prefere qualquer tipo de sofrimento eterno à renúncia de si mesmo; o amor gratuito de Deus e dos bem-aventurados estará eternamente diante dessa pessoa má, que experimentará por isso sofrimento lancinante; o grau mais elevado de aceitação da rejeição e do fracasso caracteriza o incondicional amor divino.
Abstract: The primary objective of this article is to examine the hints provided by Irenaeus of Lyon and Augustine of Hippo regarding the process of attaining eternal perdition. The second objective is to present a series of ideas that, in keeping with the aforementioned clues, enhance the reflection on hell. The method utilizes bibliographic research in conjunction with investigative procedures, underpinned by the epistemological assumption of theology, namely, adherence to a religious confession. The primary conclusions of this study are as follows: eternal perdition is a voluntary state; wicked individuals, characterized by their extreme narcissism, opt for any form of perpetual torment rather than self-denial; the unconditional, gratuitous love of God and the Blessed is a constant presence face to face the wicked individual, who consequently endures excruciating suffering; the maximum level of acceptance of rejection and failure is a hallmark of unconditional divine love.
