Abstract: In the “age of the biolytical”, techniques find their mutation point. Athreshold is transposed when the human being becomes the product of his/her works. Has this techno-scientific and biological modernity broken the being, that is, the unicity of the human being? Many questions come to the fore in particular when the powerful biotechnological industry, associated with the “omnipotence” of the market, decides to sell the “new tree of knowledge” in Wall Street. The principle of humanity is at stake. Genetic transgression? Disrespect to the human person? How far will the human being’s humanity exist? Those questions and their strong echoes demand our attention and our ingenuity in order to unearth the problem existing here. A dialogue must be urgently started which, crossing over the multiple trenches, will be able to bring benefits to the whole of Mankind. This is what the present text proposes, following the detailed study carried out by Jean-Claude Guillebaud in his book O princípio de humanidade (The principle of humanity).
